Hi,
I’m Brooke Huisman, a rising sophomore at University of
Michigan, studying biomedical engineering and minoring in German. I do research in human genetics, specifically
looking at the phenomenon of X-chromosome inactivation. I am from Clarkston, Michigan (about a one
hour drive from Ann Arbor). I hope to
study in a dual degree MD/PhD program and pursue a career in medical research.
I enjoy playing volleyball, biking, reading, and writing,
and I look forward to exploring Ann Arbor this summer. I also love to travel and spent last month
backpacking in Europe, mostly with my sister.
I visited Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Czech Republic,
Poland, and Hungary. I also had a long bus
ride through—and bathroom break in—Slovakia (if that counts as visiting!).
Go Blue!
Brooke
