Hi! My name is
Gabrielle, and in the fall I’ll be a sophomore at the University of Michigan.
I’ve lived in Ann Arbor since I was born with my parents and my two younger
sisters. If you get a chance to visit the Farmer’s Market or go to Kerrytown, you’ll see my high school, Community
High, across the street.
I plan to declare a Mechanical Engineering major with an Electrical Engineering minor in the fall. Right now, I’m really interested in energy (generation, distribution, etc). While I’m not sure whether I’d prefer to work in the commercial or academic sector yet, I plan to earn at least a Master’s degree, and I hope to work doing research/designing devices at some point.
My biggest hobby is
reading – I made sure to check for public libraries when I visited colleges in
high school. While I didn’t read much during school, I caught up after finals. If you read fiction and have a recommendation for me,
let me know! I also enjoy watch YouTube videos and television (I need to
see the 2nd season of Orphan Black :) ), and I’m currently catching
up on all the X-Men movies. During the school year, I’m involved with BLUElab:
Woven Wind, a student engineering group on campus that designs and builds small
wind turbines and partners with members in Central America.
One unique thing about
me is that I really enjoy live theater. I was really involved with my high
school’s theater group. While I’ve only managed to do a few small things with
theater this year, I still really like going to live musicals and shows.
