Who Am I?

Hello, I am Barbara Doyle and I am from the small town of Washington, MI. I have lived there my entire life and will forever be a small town girl at heart.

I am an upcoming senior in the Atmospheric, Oceanic, and Space Sciences department. I am pursuing my bachelor's degree in science and engineering in Earth System Science and Engineering, with a concentration in Climate Impact Engineering and a minor in the Program of Sustainable Engineering. This essentially means I enjoy looking at the Earth from multiple perspectives, trying to better understand it, and hopefully come up with ways to improve it. I have discovered a new avenue of interest in ecology and oceanography, which will complement my aspirations nicely. My plan is to dedicate my life to academia and become a professor. This will involve pursuing a Ph.D. (no easy task), but I believe my passion for sharing scientific knowledge with others will keep me motivated.

In my free time, I generally enjoy reading books, ultimate frisbee, soccer, running, riding four wheelers, swimming, water skiing, and long road trips. I have a crafty side as well and dabble in clay modeling as well. Most of my interests involve outdoor activities, which can be a problem. As a very pale ginger, sunscreen is my constant companion almost daily so I can continue doing my favorite things.

An unusual fact about me is that I have scars on my hands very reminiscent of those of Jesus when he was nailed to the cross. I jumped off a moving golf cart to try to run next to it and ended up with two very deep cuts on my hands from trying to catch my fall. My friends declare it to be one of the most hilarious sights they have ever seen. It occurred over five years ago, and I still get reminded of it frequently.
