During the community service event, it was nice to see
students from different universities and subject fields coming together to
complete each team-building task. There was a very positive energy throughout
the entire morning that made the event enjoyable for everyone present. Everyone
was open-minded to the ideas of others.
I expected the event to be more of a community service event than a
social one. The social aspect was nice, but I do feel that more community
service could have been done, especially considering the large amount of people
that attended.
The experience was able to show that small tasks
working towards a common goal are a good way to foster collaboration between
different people and to form new relationships. All of us can apply these skills in our own lab as we continue to interact with others in a
work environment throughout the summer.
