It was amazing to see so many people from different universities and educational backgrounds coming together to complete each task at the community service event. Although there were some tired faces, there was a positive energy throughout the event, which made it enjoyable for everyone.
The different activities did a decent job of making my
team grow closer. Each task involved cooperation, patience, and
creativity. The main method of my team was trial and error, which was
really fun. The best part was that my teammates were able to laugh off
all failed attempts, and maintain a fun environment for everyone.
I was anticipating more of a community service event than a social event. It was great to have the opportunity to mingle and get to know my diverse groupmates, but I feel like more service could have been completed, especially considering how many people attended the event. Seeing the smile on the girl's face when she was riding the bike we built for her was extremely rewarding. To be honest, I wish I could have seen even more smiles. The bikes were very straightforward to build, so it would not have been a stretch for us to build a few more to help more children. I think it would be beneficial to maintain the team-building experience, while also expanding the community service aspect of the event.
