What, So What?, Now What?

During the community service event, I got to observe all of the groups doing their activities.  I expected the activities to be awkward team building things that so many events like this usually end up being.  It actually, however, ended up being a lot of fun and everyone seemed to have genuinely enjoyed the day.  I liked the idea of getting one piece of the bike at a time, but I felt like each group could've built more than one bike.  I didn't learn any real new skills, but I did learn from my group members that different majors will think about and approach tasks very differently from the way they analyze directions to the way they organize a group.

For the building of the bike, one person really took the lead while the rest of us carried on with the group activities.  Our bike ended up being unusable because of the way the gears had been put together.  It made me think about how much more effective the group could've been if we had all worked together, instead of just putting all of our trust in one or two people.

I can apply what I observed to my lab work by listening to the way everyone approaches tasks because we all have different ideas and some methods work for some tasks while other ideas better suit other tasks.
