"What, So What?, Now What?

The main thing I observed during the community service event was a group of people that didn't even know each other coming together as a team. As the event started nobody was familiar with the others, but by the end we were all cheering and going at the challenges as a team. I didn't necessarily learn anything new, but coming together with different people and having to work quickly was an experience that I think can help me in the lab.

In my research lab there are frequently people from other labs or new people coming in, and being to start working right away despite any differences is a valuable skill to have. As far as going over the group activities again, I don't know if I would change anything because it seemed like everything was important to the overall experience. However, I will say some of the tasks seemed a bit tedious at the time. I think if the leaders (outside our groups) would have a more hands off approach and let the groups self regulate it would improve the sense of accomplishment and promote working for a common cause.
