At the community service event, I observed that many of the
groups tried working through the team building challenges in different ways.
The experience was different from what I expected because I thought there would
be more involvement with the community service aspect, but it was only a very
small portion of the day. A new skill I learned was how to work with people
with all different backgrounds and ideas when it came to activities such as the
chicken toss. I liked that I was able to meet many new people from the program,
but I didn’t like how the bike building part only took a few minutes. I learned
from my group members that there are many different ways to view a challenge
and that it is important to try them out.
In the research lab, I can listen to everyone’s ideas just
like during the group activities. If I could do the group activities again, I
wouldn’t change anything, because I thought that the group worked together very
well.
