Well...
Over the past few weeks we have attended a few different workshops which were Career Development 101 and Writing Academic Articles and Getting Published. These workshops were informative and helpful in a few different ways.
Writing Academic Articles and Getting Published workshop helped me to realize the rigor and hard work it takes to get published.
Fun Fact: You can only submit your article to one journal at a time and if they take a year to deny you. That time waiting is wasted and you will have to submit that article to another journal, that is if you still want that article published.
I also learned that there are superstar journals that are only for the best and most well known researchers in the field to publish in. Most likely you can not get published in those journals even if you have phenomenal research if you are not already a authority in the field.
In the Career Development Workshop, we focused mostly on the importance of networking and ways to make the most of this experience. My group in particular was chosen to demonstrate why we need to communicate more with our peers and net work. Though it was a fun experience and it did allow me the opportunity to get to know some of my peers better.
